“Music has become an almost arbitrary matter, and composers will no longer be bound by laws and rules, but avoid the names of School and Law as they would Death itself...”

--Johann Joseph Fux, 1725

Welcome to Petefordtheory.com!

--a dizzying glance into my little world of gigs and other musical things outside of academia.

This is Pete Ford’s personal website, highlighting the many musical hats he wears beyond teaching Music Theory at the Adrian College Music Department at Adrian College.  Please feel free to peruse and explore the surfeit of pages in the menu above.

(It’s an eclectic site!)

Look for cameos of me and some of my colleagues in a short YouTube video about teaching music at Adrian College:

Below:  The Pete Ford Quartet plays at a Lima Symphony Orchestra fundraiser in a barn(!) in rural Allen County, Ohio.  Miss Ohio was present and kind enough to pose with the band as we played!  (To the right of that, conductor Leonard Slatkin appears over my shoulder when attending a concert in Detroit where my wife played clarinet under his baton).
